Moka pot and Chemex
The simplest way to brew coffee is to pour boiling water into grounded beans. This method is good enough for most people, especially that they are drinking coffee only occasionally. However, you can achieve better tastes and aromas with a Moka pot. It’s a great alternative for an expensive coffee machine. Preparing a decent brew with Moka is very easy, and buying this kitchen equipment won’t drain your wallet. It’s small and convenient to take it with you. To brew coffee you will need a grinder to have a freshly grounded coffee. For one portion, you should use from 5 to 17 grams.
Chemex is a tool to make coffee with the overflow method. It allows us to extract a wide range of flavors. Brews from Chemex stand out with smooth and clear tastes. Preparing coffee with this equipment is more time-consuming than Moka pot. You need to have the Chemex itself, a filter, grinder, stopwatch, and kitchen scale. The proportion is 50g of coffee to 700ml of filtered water.

People who are looking for easy-to-use equipment should look at Aeropress. It gives us a maximum juicy taste with a fruity and natural sourness of coffee beans. Brewing with this method takes only a few minutes, and its small size and weight allows you to take it everywhere you want. In our opinion, it’s the best equipment for travelers. Brewing with Aeropress gives many ways to experiment with the intensity and taste of your coffee. For 15-18g of grounded coffee, we recommend using 200ml of filtered water.
Another option is to use the French press. It’s an extremely simple method and the equipment is super easy to clean. You need only a few minutes to prepare multiple brews. Also, it’s a great method for people who don’t want to buy expensive gear and need their morning coffee FAST. You don’t need to worry about dregs, because French press has a special filter.
Siphon and Drip
The siphon consists of two glass flasks, a stand, and a burner. It’s not a fast method but if you like strong, sweet, and tea-like taste, it’s worth trying. Also, siphon is one of the oldest methods of preparing coffee. A much easier way is Dripper. It’s often considered as the most classic method allowing to extract full aromas. Brews from drip are delicate and their consistency resembles tea.
